“Don't ask yourself what the world needs. Ask yourself what makes you come alive and then go do that. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.” Howard Thurman
Watch a pebble drop into water. See the ripples? That pebble is you and the ripples are the impact you can have on the world, including people that you may never know.
An author writes a book and somewhere, someone picks it up, reads the words, and makes a decision to do something, change something, improve something. A minister gives his sermon and in the audience is one person for whom those words have a huge impact, resolving a question or illuminating a pathway.
These are just two small examples of what happens when one has passion for his or her profession or calling and gives that passion full rein. Magic happens. Life changes. People are impacted — both the giver and the recipient.
And it can happen if you discover what your passion is and honor it. It doesn’t have to become your career, your whole focus, your raison d’être. It just has to be a gift that you possess and you use and you share.
We all have something of value inside. Don't keep it there. Bring it out and let it shine.
